Servicing of the Air Conditioning System
The air conditioning system is there to keep the air at a comfortable temperature throughout the year and to dehumidify the air in your car. Keeping you comfortable particularly in hot weather.
Like all systems in your vehicle the air conditioning system should be serviced at regular intervals. In particular:
- The evaporator – regular disinfection.
Bacteria along with spore and mico-organisms enter the interior through the ventilation system and can cause allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to them.
- Interior filter – regular replacement.
This filters dust, dirt, pollen etc and should be replace once a year or every 12,000 miles.
During the year up to 10% of the refrigerant can escape due to natural evaporation, it this is not replaced it can lead to problems which prevent the system from no longer working at full capacity. Other problems can be caused by air and humidity, leaks and dirt. All of these added together can cause expensive repair problems.
Prevent these by having your system regularly serviced and topped up by a specialist garage.
Basic annual check-up
- Visual inspection of all components
- Functional and performance test
- Replace the interior filter
- Disinfect the evaporator
Service check every 2 years
- Refrigerant replacement
- Replacement of the dryer
- Leak test
- Replace the interior filter
- Disinfect the evaporator
